IM-history is a service that saves your instant messaging history and contacts online and provides you convenient access to them. With IM-history, you can:
- save your existing history in a reliable storage and don´t worry about it anymore;
- synchronize your char history from different computers instantly;
- merge your chat history and contacts from different messengers;
- access your chat history from anywhere;
- use convenient tools designed especially for searching and organizing your chat history and contacts.
We value your privacy. All data is stored via secure connection and is protected on servers. We will not sell or rent your data to anyone.
IM-history is a completely free service at the moment. In the future we plan to show small and non-obtrusive ads for free accounts and paid, ads-free and feature-rich, "pro" accounts.
IM-history has two parts: client suite and online service. Client Suite saves chat history from your desktop instant messengers to servers and gives you one-click access to your history. It should be installed on every PC that you use to chat.
Online service provides friendly web-interface to your chat history. It can be accessed from IM-history Browser embedded into IM-history Client Suite or from any web-browser otherwise.
Download IMHistorySetup.exe from the download page and run it.
Passing typical installer pages where you accept the license agreement and choose a destination folder, you will come to "Existing history" page. If you install IM-history the first time, you have two options:
- Save all my history - default option, saves existing history and new messages.
- Save only new messages - can be useful if you want just to try how IM-history works. If you decide later to save complete chat history online, you´ll have to reinstall IM-history Client Suite.
If you reinstalling IM-history Client Suite you can choose from:
- Continue from last saved message - default option.
- Save all my history again - is useful if you haven´t saved your complete chat history or just want to re-upload it.
Press "Install" button to install IM-history Client Suite on your PC.

Messengers like AIM, MSN, Windows Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Skype and Miranda should be started (or restarted) after being enabled to save chat history online
Once installed, Client Suite is started automatically with your Windows and runs in the tray bar
Different icons mean different statuses:
- everything is OK
- updating, please wait
- something went wrong, see tooltip for more details
- message saving disabled, don´t forget to enable it back

Click on a contact to filter messages with this contact only. Contact will be expanded showing the avatar and action bar. The action bar allows you to show contact details, manage metacontacts, "mute" a contact or delete it
Just input letter-by-letter what contact you are looking for and the contact list will be filtered to present you only contacts that contain the text you entered. Click on to clear the filter.
If you use more than one instant messenger you probably have several contacts for the same person, but in different protocols. The "Metacontact" feature allows you to combine them into one meta-contact.
To create a new metacontact:
Select a contact to be the base for a new metacontact and open its details page
Select another contact to combine with the previous one and press "Add to metacontact" button
Both contacts will be grouped into one metacontact.
Select a contact and press "Contact details"
